Sorry
You Weren’t There
If
you were unable to attend our Chapter meeting on January 6th you missed an
outstanding talk by Vicky Heza, Chief of Enforcement, CAL/OSHA.
Ms. Heza presented a retrospective look at CAL/OSHA year 2003.
She discussed, in part:
•
The new Labor and Workforce Development Agency, an agency concentrating on the
underground economy, enforcement efforts and an outreach program to the
non-English speaking workforce.
•
CAL/OSHA Partnership and Alliances activities, including the San Diego Ship
Repair Association and the Korean Immigrant Workers’ Association.
•
New regulatory actions such as Smoking in the Workplace and
S.B.796—“Private Attorneys Act of 2004”
•
Other topics covered the Construction Safety and Health Inspection Program,
coordination with the State Office of Emergency Services, and participation in
the Incident Command System (as exampled in the recent southern California
wildfires incident).
You
also missed meeting and discussing safety questions with top CAL/OSHA staff
members and Deputy District Attorney Karen I. Doty, Economic Fraud &
Environmental Protection Division, San Diego County.
It
was great professional meeting.
We look forward to your attending future sessions.
