About the San Diego Chapter

The American Society of Safety Engineers, founded in 1911, is the world's oldest and largest professional organization.  Its 33,000 members manage, supervise and consult on safety, health and environmental issues in industry, insurance, government and education.  The San Diego Chapter is one of 148 chapters within the ASSE family.  Our mission is simple: Protect people, property and the environment.

The San Diego Chapter was established in 1964, and serves community safety leaders as a resource of safety, health, and environmental information and guidance.  Chapter member safety professionals work in diverse industries ranging from non-profit, government, and for-profit companies.

In addition to conducting regular educational meetings, we participate in events such as the Pacific Southwest Safety & Health Conference (in partnership with other professional safety and health organizations).

We are here to help San Diego be a safer place work and live.
